Zuid Limburg

We went for a short vacation to Zuid-Limburg. One of the reasons was that I would visit Heidi for two days with other members of the group Textielkunst. We had a lot of fun together, showed our works ( in progres) showed new methods and discussed a lot of items. We also visited the African Museum that is in walking distance from Heidi's house.Heidi thought that we were all very hungry and so she had many nice things to eat. It was an enjoyable meeting.

We zijn voor een korte vakantie naar Zuid-Limburg geweest. Een van de redenen was dat ik samen met een aantal leden van de groep Textielkunst 2 dagen naar Heidi ging.
We hebben heel wat lol gehad samen, lieten ons werk zien, af of niet af, demonstreerden technieken en voerden verschillende discussies.
We hebben ook het Afrikamuseum bezocht, dat op een steenworp afstand van Heidi's huis ligt.
Heidi dacht dat we allemaal erg hongerig zouden zijn, dus had ze een heleboel lekkere dingen om te eten. Het was een hele gezellige bijeenkomst.
Op de foto's zie je een aantal leden van de groep, overzicht van de velden vanuit de tuin van het Afrika Museum, waar in de verte ergens Heidi's huis ligt, en het uitzicht 's avonds uit het raam van de caravan.

Meeting

Today I go to the south of the Netherlands to meet a lot of friends. For two days we will work together with the group Textielkunst in Cadier en Keer. We all enjoy this meeting.
We will also visit my niece Tanja and our good old friends Jan en Jose, who are our friends for decades.
With the Textile group we will visit the African museum in Cadier en Keer. I know there is a lot of inspiration in there. They have also beautiful handmade African stamps en a lot of handmade beads. And of course African fabrics.

Vandaag reizen we af naar het zuiden om een hele hoop vrienden te ontmoeten. Twee dagen werken we samen met de groep Textielkunst in het huis van Heidi in Cadier en Keer. We hebben er allemaal zin in.
We gaan ook mijn nicht Tanja bezoeken en onze goede oude vrienden Jan en Jose, waar we al tientallen jaren mee bevriend zijn.
Met de textielgroep gaan we naar het Afrikamuseum in Cadier. Ik weet dat je daar heel veel inspiratie op kunt doen. Ze hebben ook hele mooie handgemaakte stempels en veel hangemaakte kralen. En natuurlijk ook de afrikaanse stoffen.

Cactus

One of my cacti is full in bloom. This is beautiful.
The diameter of hte flower is about 20 cm, the colour is a vibrant red. There are eleven flowers this time and they bloom ons after another. It is a pity that they only live fot two days.



Een van mijn actussen staat in bloei. De bloemen zijn prachtig, hebben een doorsnee van ongeveer 20 cm en zijn vuurrood.
Er zitten elf knoppen aan de plant en gelukkig bloeien ze na elkaar. Het is jammer dat ze maar twee dagen open zijn.

Kurt Schwitters en de Stijl

In the weekend of Pentecost I went to the Boymans van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam to visit the Exhibition "Schwitters and the Avant-Garde".
It was a wonderful exhibition, very good constructed with a lot of works from Kurt Schwitters and other artists from the Avant-Garde.
I was very impressed and of course I bought the wonderful catalogue. There was a good explanation, as well in the book as on the exhibition, of the history around the person of Kurt Schwitters and contemporary artist.

This week I spent a lot of time in the Library of Oss, to search for more information about, for example, Theo Doesburg, a friend of Schwitters,Other members of "De Stijl" and from the Dada mouvement.
The first picture is work from Kurt Schwitters, the second from Theo van Doesburg.

I looked also for some information about "The Bauhaus" a famaous training in Art in Germany ( Weimar and Dessau) in the same period as Schwitters and van Doesburg.
The library possesed a good book of this period.
The second two images are from this book.
I think this period may be a lot of inspiration.


In het Pinksterweekend ben ik in het Museum Boymans van Beuningen geweest om de tentoonstelling van Kurt Schwittert en de Avant-Garde te bezoeken. Het was een geweldige tentoonstelling van Schwitters en tijdgenoten. Heel veel werk was er te zien en er is een hele mooie catalogus te koop. Interressant was ook de achtergrond informatie over de tijd waarin alles zich afspeelde zowel in de tentoonstelling als in het boek.

Dze week heb ik in de bibliotheek van Oss heel wat tijd doorgebracht met het zoeken naar tijdgenoten o.a. Theo van Doesburg, de Dada beweging en de Stijl. De eerste afbeelding is van Schwitters uit de catalogus, de tweede uit het boek over Theo van Doesburg.

Ik ben ook al een hele tijd geinterresseerd in "Het Bauhaus"
een opleiding voor toegepaste kunst in Weimar en later Dessau in Duitsland. Ook hiervan vond ik een heel mooi boek. De laatste twee foto's zijn uit dit boek.
Ik denk dat deze periode een heleboel inspiratie oplevert.
