Tomorrow is the general rehearsal of the Weihnachtsoratorium in Oss, were I sing as high soprano. The music of Bach is beautiful, but for us sopranos we have to sing sometimes very high.

Sunday afternoon is the concert at three o'clock in the Holy Hartchurch in Oss. Entrance cost € 25,--. I like to sing this music very much. You can learn more on the website of the Choir on: www.vocaalensembleoss.nl

Last week two of our grandchildren stayed with us and learned to sew. Akki by hand and Rik on the sewingmachine. A joy for them and for me.

It is a long, long time ago I wrote on this blog.
Time went by quickly and I was busy recovering from the chemo therapy they give me for a non- Hodgkin lymfoom. Alas, the therapy didn't do what it was meant to do. The tumour stayed and I went for a second opinion to the Antoni van Leeuwenhoekhospital in Amsterdam. As I guessed already, we now know I have a seldom seen cancer, a carcinoid syndroom. They can do nothing, only give injections to keep it under control. Happily the tumour will grow very slow.
In the meantime I didn't sit quiet, I did research for quilts about my ancestors. There are already documents in 1309. In started with a series of quilts about the theme and in Biezenmortel, where I attended a Masterclass, I made some new ones. Some of them will be exposed in de Kantfabriek in Horst, where our textilegroup StiQS will have in exposition in february en march 2012.

Last Sundae we visited the museum for Volkenkunde in Leiden. There was an exhibition about the Maori's
When we were in New Zealand we saw a lot of their culture, so it was very interesting for us to see parts of their history and their arts again. A lot of inspiration, it keeps me busy.

I love roses. They are my favourate flowers. Their colours, the placement of the petals and sometimes thier smell is fabulous. In the last time I got different bouquets of flowers, almost with roses in it.
Another favourite are anemones, also the favourite flower of Winston Churchill. In his garden he always let grow anemones.
My friend Berthy, a painter, drew very nice anemones on a large roll of paper.

In the last workshop from Els van Baarle we screenprinted with thickened Procion dye. I did that before, but Els had a lot of some tricks to make nice screens.

I allready got my fifth chemotherapiy. Before there was an inquiry for the MRSA bacterium. In the hospital, and especially ont the department where I get my treatment, there are some patients and nurses with this bacterium so nurses where covered with extra caps, aprons, gloves etc to protect patients and themselves. In a few days I will know if I am clean.
I am not so very sick from chemo, but tired and most of the time queasiness, but I have pills for the latter, so I can handle it.

Last Sunday we went to the Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal. A nice, modern museum with a beautiful collection en a good collection of books. This time I didn't buy a book, but instead I bought some beads. In the museum shop there are also other good items to buy.
Some years ago I found inspiration for my quilt : "Het is niet wat het lijkt" by a text from african writer Wole Soyinka, wich is very large on display on a wall in the museum. Wole Soyinka did win the nobelprice for literature in 1986. Now I found a Postcard with the text on it, and I had to buy it for my collection. Outside are some african villages. In summertime there is a lot to do here, but sunday it was very bad weather, so I have to go back to visit the outdoor exhibition.

Three weeks ago I attended a workshop with Sandra Meech. Different techniques passsed by, especially written messages. My theme was Marokko, we were there last year in May.
Another theme is the written manuscript in medieval handwriting of my ancestors, the Knippenberg family. I think I can go ahaed with the techniques I have learned. I have a lot of ideas, now I need some time to make some textile works of it.
Today my husband and I celebrate our 45th weddding anniversary. Last weekend we celebrated this anniversery with our children and grandchildren in a bungalowpark in Twente, in the east of the Netherlands. It was very nice, comfortable and relaxed.

Today, our eldest granddaughter celebrates her 13th birthday. I made this fibermailcard for in en A6 format.
Last wednesday I had my second chemo-therapie. It was not so heavy as the first time and it was 3 hours shorter .
Today we cut my hair, ( I mean the hair that was left) I am now a skinhead. That was very emotional and not so easy as I thought before. But I have a lot of shawls to drape around my head and in case of emergency I have a peruke, wich fits well. It is just as if I come back from the hairdresser.

I made a lot of stars in different sizes and colours.
I sold them, gave them to my children and hang some in my own Christmas tree.
I was in time with the preparations for Christmas because last Wednesday I got my first chemo-therapy agains a chronicle lymphathic leukemia also called indolent non-hodgkin lymfoom.
I will get 6 therapies with intervals of three weeks and also for two years an immuno-therapy.
It will be heavy, I will loose my hair, and my whole body will join the party. At this moment I'm rather fine.
I hope I will have time in between to do something with fabrics and yarns or some other creations and when not I have still a lot of books to read. I also have some workhops and I hope I can join them.
I wish all of you fine Christmas days and a very happy New Year
ew

The whole exhibition was inspirational. You can visit it till 13 february

There is also an exhibition in het Valkhof in Nijmegen from Berend Strik. He embroiders paintings. This must also be an interesting exhibition. I hope I can go for a visit.

It is a very long time ago I wrote on my blog. My husband is slowly recovering from the accident that happened to him last June. He can forget his sports because he can never walk normally. That is very difficult for him and me.
Surgery costed a lot of time and still it does for both of us.
In the meantime I tried to do something creatifs with my fabrics and a little bit with paints.
For the exhibition of StiQS, wich take place in the gallery "Het huis van Anna" in Amsterdam I made some items to sell en to expose. Te exhibition is still going on and lasts till 6 november. The address is: Jozef Israelskade 95 hs in Amsterdam. www.hethuisvananna.nl

For my birthday I got a huge bouquet of roses from my husband. He could not buy it himself, so my son in law bought them.
Four and a halve weeks ago my husband felt down the stairs and broke his shoulder, four ribs and his heel.
Now much of the time he is laying in a bed in the living room or is sitting in a wheel chair. Everyday a nurse helps him an hour a day.
His shoulder and his heel will never be the same as before the crash. His favourite sport, running, that's a thing of the past.
In my spare time a do some stitches on a mandala. There is no need to think about the pattern, I do what comes up to me.
I hope that in the next few weeks I am able to be a little more creative.

Last Friday I was at the opening of an exhibition of Lam de Wolf in the Textile Museum in Tilburg. Lam has very interesting work, often with materiaals you find in your surroundings. I can advise this exhibition.

Our granddaughter is at home, with a 24 hours infuse with medicins. There are more test like a PET scan to look if they can find something. It is nice to see her again in her own family.

In Marrakech I saw a colourfull shop with all kind of tassels. Here also were many fine patterns with inlaid tiles. Beautiful handwork.
The narrow blue streets we saw in Casablanca.
Onze kleindochter is weer thuis.

Our granddaughter is still in hospital. This week they discovered that there was a bacil that never before caused a meningitis, so they have to find out how to solve this problem. There is no literature about it. Heavy. I hope all will come well.
In Fez we visited several locations were handworkers were at work, f.e. weavers, leatherfactory where leather was painted in large basins etc. I bought a shawl, the man in the weavery draped around my head.
Lijkt me geen gezond werk.

The medina in Fez is beautiful. Middle-aged buildings, with sometimes very narrow, about 9000, streets. Transport is only possible by mule, little horse or bike. The shops are mostly very narrow, like 2 x 1 meter. They sell everything. Every qaurter has its own products, like beautiful coloured yarns, clothes for women, clothes for men, shoes, fabrics, meat, spices, fruit etc. It is a festival of colours and smells. Very impressing.

Heel indrukwekkend.

We visited a tiles factory. From hand made tiles they paint and cut the tile for the mosaics in f.e. the mosque.
