Yesterday We visited the museum Twentse Welle in Enschede. It was well worth a visit. The exhibition was well documented and there were several items to see. Clothes, old quilts made of sits, quilts from the members of SAQA with the subject 9/11, quilts made with special fabrics like the Landt & van Marle fabrics, and high tech fabrics from Ten Cate.
To my surprise the old quilt on the picture was there. This quilt came to the quiltersguild when I was a board member and with this quilt I asked advice from an American conservator who was at that time in the Textile Museum in Tilburg.
The museum itself was also very interesting with a lot of things you could do by yourself.
In the next days we will go to Zuid-Limburg to visit friends and familiy, and to make some nice walks.
Gisteren zijn we naar het museum Twentse Welle geweest in Enschede. De wisseltentoonstelling was een quilttentoonstelling die heel goed was gedocumenteerd. Er was van alles te zien. Kleding, oude sitsen quilts, quilts over 9/11 van SAQA leden, en quilts met speciale stoffen uit de Landt & van Marle collectie en high tech stoffen van Ten Cate.
Tot mijn verrassing hing ook de quilt die het Quiltersgilde ontving in mijn bestuursperiode en waarover ik nog advies heb gevraagd bij een amerikaanse conservator, die op dat moment in het Tilburgs Textielmuseum was.
Het museum zelf was ook heel interressant, met veel leuke dingen om zelf te doen.
De komende dagen gaan we naar Zuid-Limburg om familie en vrienden te bezoeken en om een paar mooie wandelingen te maken.
