I made a lot of stars in different sizes and colours.
I sold them, gave them to my children and hang some in my own Christmas tree.
I was in time with the preparations for Christmas because last Wednesday I got my first chemo-therapy agains a chronicle lymphathic leukemia also called indolent non-hodgkin lymfoom.
I will get 6 therapies with intervals of three weeks and also for two years an immuno-therapy.
It will be heavy, I will loose my hair, and my whole body will join the party. At this moment I'm rather fine.
I hope I will have time in between to do something with fabrics and yarns or some other creations and when not I have still a lot of books to read. I also have some workhops and I hope I can join them.

Ik maakte een heel aantal sterren in verschillende maten en kleuren. Ik verkocht ze, gaf ze aan mijn kinderen en hing er ook een paar in mijn eigen kerstboom. Ik was dit jaar op tijd mijn de voorbereidingen voor Kerstmis, omdat ik afgelopen woensdag mijn eerste chemo-therapie kreeg voor een chronische lymfatische leukemie, ook wel indolent non-hodgkin lymfoom genoemd. Er zijn in totaal 6 kuren met tussenpauzes van 6 weken. Daarnaast krijg ik nog twee jaar immunotherapie. Het zal heftig zijn, mijn haar zal uitvallen en mijn lichaam zal gezellig meedoen. Op dit moment voel ik me tamelijk goed.

Ik hoop dat ik in de tussenperiodes tijd en energie zal hebben om me bezig te houden met textiel en andere creatieve dingen en anders heb ik nog wel een hele stapel boeken liggen die ik wil lezen. Bovendien heb ik ook nog enkele workshops gepland staan en ik hoop dat ik ook daaran kan deelnemen.

Els van Baarle

This afternoon, I attended the opening of the exhibition of Els van Baarle and Ans Verdijk in the castle of Wijchen.
The textiles of Els are beautiful, rich of colour and pattern, full of history.
The works of Ans Verdijk are made with modern, waist materials, f.i. second hand childs cloth, little ends of candles, embellishment etc.
The whole exhibition was inspirational. You can visit it till 13 february

Vanmiddag was ik bij de opening van Els van Baarle en Ans Verdijk in het kasteel van Wijchen.
De textiele werken van Els zijn prachtig in hun gelaagdheid, rijk van kleur en patroon en vol geschiedenis.
Het werk van Ans Verdijk is samengesteld met modern afvalmateriaal, zoals oude kinderkleding, restjes kaars, borduurwerk tec.
De hele tentoonstelling vond ik erg inspirerend.
Je kunt hem nog zien tot 13 februari.

There is also an exhibition in het Valkhof in Nijmegen from Berend Strik. He embroiders paintings. This must also be an interesting exhibition. I hope I can go for a visit.

Er is ook een tentoonstelling van Berend Strik in het Valkhof in Nijmegen. Hij borduurt op schilderijen. Dit moet ook een hele interessante tentoonstelling zijn. Ik hoop dat ik tijd krijg om hier naar toe te gaan. De tentoonstelling duurt to 9 januari.

Today I visited the museum "De Kantfabriek"in Horst in the south of the Netherlands. There was an exhibition of embroidery from a challenge from Pfaff. It was well worth to see this fine exhibition.

Vandaag was ik in Horst in het museum "de Kantfabriek". Er is op dit moment een tentoonstelling van machinale borduurwerken van een wedstrijd van de Pfaff. Het was zeer de moeite waard.

A few weeks ago the daughters of our eldest daughter stayed with us. I did a workshop felt making with them. With the felted fabric we made corsages.

Een paar weken geleden waren de dochters van onze oudste dochter bij ons. Met hen deed ik een workshop vilten. Van de gemaakte viltlapjes hebben we corsages gemaakt.

It is a very long time ago I wrote on my blog. My husband is slowly recovering from the accident that happened to him last June. He can forget his sports because he can never walk normally. That is very difficult for him and me.
Surgery costed a lot of time and still it does for both of us.
In the meantime I tried to do something creatifs with my fabrics and a little bit with paints.

Het is een hele tijd geleden dat ik op mijn blog schreef. Mijn echtgenoot is nog steeds aan het herstellen van het ongeluk dat hem overkwam in juni. Hij kan zijn sport wel vergeten, want hij zal nooit meer normaal lopen. Dat is heel m oeilijk voor hem, maar ook voor mij. Verpleging kost hem en mij een heleboel tijd.

Tussendoor probeer ik toch nog wat creatiefs te doen, als wat stukken maken voor de exposstie van StiQS in het Huis van Anna in Amsterdam. De tentoonstelling loopt nog tot 6 november . Het adres is: Jozef Israelskade 95 hs, Amsterdam. www.hethuisvananna.nl

For my birthday I got a huge bouquet of roses from my husband. He could not buy it himself, so my son in law bought them.

Four and a halve weeks ago my husband felt down the stairs and broke his shoulder, four ribs and his heel.

Now much of the time he is laying in a bed in the living room or is sitting in a wheel chair. Everyday a nurse helps him an hour a day.

His shoulder and his heel will never be the same as before the crash. His favourite sport, running, that's a thing of the past.

In my spare time a do some stitches on a mandala. There is no need to think about the pattern, I do what comes up to me.

I hope that in the next few weeks I am able to be a little more creative.

Dit geweldige boeket rozen kreeg ik voor mijn verjaardag van mijn echtgenoot. Hij kon er zelf niet op uit om een kadootje te kopen, dus een schoonzoon kocht de rozen.

Vier en een halve week geleden viel mijn echtgenoot van de trap en brak zijn schouder, 4 ribben en zijn hiel. Hij lig in bed in de huiskamer of zit in een rolstoel. Elke dag komt de wijkverpleging een uur om hem te verzorgen.

Zijn schouder en zijun hiel zullen nooit meer de oude worden. Zijn favourite sport, hardlopen, kan hij wel vergeten.

In mijn nu zeldzame vrije tijd borduur ik een paar steekjes aan een mandala. Je hoeft niet na te deneken over een patroon, je doet wat in je opkomt. Ik hoop dat de komende weken weer wat ruimte geven om creatief bezig te zijn.

Last Friday I was at the opening of an exhibition of Lam de Wolf in the Textile Museum in Tilburg. Lam has very interesting work, often with materiaals you find in your surroundings. I can advise this exhibition.

Afgelopen vrijdag was ik bij de opening van de tentoonstelling van Lam de Wolf in het Textielmuseum in Tilburg. Lam heeft heel interessant werk, vaak met materialen die je in je directe omgeving kunt vinden.

Tomorrow I will visit the paperbiennale in Rijswijk I am curious how this exhibition will be.

Morgen ga in naar de papierbiennale in Rijswijk. Ik ben benieuwd wat daar te zien is.

Our granddaughter is at home, with a 24 hours infuse with medicins. There are more test like a PET scan to look if they can find something. It is nice to see her again in her own family.

In Marrakech I saw a colourfull shop with all kind of tassels. Here also were many fine patterns with inlaid tiles. Beautiful handwork.

Onze kleindochter is weer thuis. Wel nog met een 24-uurs infuus voor medicijnen, en er lopen nog enkele onderzoeken zoals een PET scan, maar het gaat langzaam beter.

Het is fijn om haar weer tussen haar eigen familieleden te zien.

In Marrakech zag ik een kleurrijke winkels vol met kwasten voor gordijnen etc. Ook hier weer overal prachtige patronen met mozaiktegels, allemaal handwerk.

De prachtige blauwe straatjes zagen we in Casablanca.

Our granddaughter is still in hospital. This week they discovered that there was a bacil that never before caused a meningitis, so they have to find out how to solve this problem. There is no literature about it. Heavy. I hope all will come well.

In Fez we visited several locations were handworkers were at work, f.e. weavers, leatherfactory where leather was painted in large basins etc. I bought a shawl, the man in the weavery draped around my head.

Onze kleindochter verblijft nog steeds in het ziekenhuis. Er is deze week eindelijk de boosdoener gevonden. Een bacterie, die nog nooit een hersenvliesontsteking heeft veroorzaakt. Een wereldprimeur. Of je daar blij mee moet zijn???? Er is geen literatuur over dus ook geen referentiekader. Alles moet onderzocht worden. Heftig. Ik hoop dat alles op z'n pootjes terecht komt.

In Fez bezochten we ook allerlei werkplaatsen waar ambachten nog met de hand gedaan worden, zoals een wevery waar van de vezels van de aloe vera plant z.g. "zijde" werd geweven. Ik kocht daar een sjaal die door een van de medewerkers kunstig om mijn hoofd geknoopt werd.

Er was een grote leerververij waar de vellen leer in grote bassins met de hand geverfd werden.

Lijkt me geen gezond werk.

The medina in Fez is beautiful. Middle-aged buildings, with sometimes very narrow, about 9000, streets. Transport is only possible by mule, little horse or bike. The shops are mostly very narrow, like 2 x 1 meter. They sell everything. Every qaurter has its own products, like beautiful coloured yarns, clothes for women, clothes for men, shoes, fabrics, meat, spices, fruit etc. It is a festival of colours and smells. Very impressing.

De medina in Fez is prachtig. Het complex dateert van de middeleeuwen en heeft ongeveer 9000 smalle, soms heel erg smalle straatjes. De winkeltjes zijn klein, soms maar 2 x 1 meter. Transport van de goederen is alleen mogelijk per muilezel, klein paard of transportfiets. Ze verkopen van alles. Iedere wijk heeft zijn eigen producten, zoals garens in prachtige kleuren, kleding voor vrouwen, kleding voor mannen, stoffen, schoenen, kruiden, groenten, vlees en fruit.
Het is een feest van kleuren en geuren. Heel indrukwekkend.

We visited a tiles factory. From hand made tiles they paint and cut the tile for the mosaics in f.e. the mosque.

We bezochten ook een tegelfabriek. De handgemaakte tegels werden geverfd en later verknipt voor de prachtige mozaiken in o.a. de moskeeen.

We went for two weeks to Andalusia in Spain and to Marokko to visit the Towns of the Kings.
The history of both regions have a lot in common and it is very interesting to compare the countries. Next days I will publish more pictures.
The first two pictures are of The Mezquita in Cordoba, the last three of the Alhambra in Granada.

We zijn twee weken naar Andalusie en naar de koningsteden in Marokko geweest.
De geschiedenis van de beide regio's/landen hebben veel overeenkomsten en het is interessant om ze met elkaar te vergelijken. De komende dagen zal ik nog meer foto's op het blog zetten. De eerste twee foto's zijn van de Mezquita in Cordabo en de laatste drie van het Alhambra in Granada.

Back home we heard that our eldest granddaughter, 12 years old, was ill. Thursday she went to hospital and was kept there. Diagnosis was meningitis. That was heavy. She was very ill. We are all very happy that the worst days are gone. She stays in hospital till the end of this week, and we hope she will recover soon.

Toen we thuiskwamen hoorden we dat onze oudste kleindochter, 12 jaar, ziek was. Donderdag ging ze naar de kinderarts in het ziekenhuis en bleef daar meteen. Ze had hersenvliesontsteking.

Dat was heftig. Ze was erg ziek en we zijn nu erg blij dat het ergste voorbij is. Deze week blijft ze nog in het ziekenhuis. Haar ouders zijn dag en nacht bij haar en we hopen dat ze snel weer herstelt, hoewel de prognose is dat het wel tot september kan duren voor ze echt beter is.

Last weekend I was with my eldest daughter and her eldest daughter in Gent. In my family were three girls. I have three girls and my eldest two daughters also have three girls. Our youngest has two girls and two boys.

Our eldest granddaughter Vivianne decided that we had to celebrate a eldest daughter weekend together.

That was very nice. The three of us had a room together in an very nice old house from about 1870. We walked a lot, visited the design museum ( very nice) went to film, and of course we enjoyed a "Brusselse wafel"with fruit and clotted cream. Breakfast was also very good and for dinner we had nice places to. In short a weekend to do over again.

Afgelopen weekend was ik met mijn oudste dochter en haar oudste dochter in Gent. Ik kom uit een gezin met drie meisjes, Ik heb zelf drie meisjes en mijn oudste twee dochters hebben ook allebei drie meisjes. De jongste heeft twee meisjes en twee jongens.

Onze oudste kleindochter Vivianne, had bedacht dat we wel eens een oudste dochter weekend konden houden, dus gingen we naar Gent. Erg leuk. We hadden samen een kamer in een heel mooi oud herenhuis van ongeveer 1870. We hebben heel wat afgelopen, stadswandelingen gemaakt, naar het designmuseum geweest ( de moeite waard), samen naar de film, en natuurlijk hebben we zo'n heerlijke brusselse wafel gegeten met fruit en slagroom. mmmm. Ontbijt was ook heerlijk, en voor leuke eetgelegenheden hoef je ook niet ver te zoeken. Kortom een weekend om nog eens te herhalen.

My garden is in full bloom. A lot of orange, yellow, white and blue flowers. Nice to see, spring has finely begun.
In the same colours I made some cushions for the caravan of friends of us. We use covers like these to hide our kissens and use them when I want to read with my legs high.
This week I was in hospital for checking my health. The situation is stable now and the process is very slowly. I'm glad of this.
I am now a member of the dutch organisations LVN, Lymfklierkankervereniging.
Yesterday evening there was in informationsession about new medicins, accidental in the nearest by hospital, with a reading from the physician who is traeting me. It is good to be kept informed.

De tuins staat in volle bloei. Oranje, geel, wit en blauw zijn de hoofdkleuren. Het voorjaar is eindelijk begonnen.

In dezelfde kleuren maakte ik kussenovertrekken voor de caravan van vrienden. Zelf gebruik ik ook zo'n overtrekken om overdag het hoofdkussen in te stoppen en op die manier een lekker steuntje te creeeren als ik met mijn voeten omhoog aan het lezen ben.

Deze week ben ik opnieuw op controle geweest in het ziekenhuis. Alles is stabiel. Het proces gaat maar heel langzaam verder. Daar ben ik wel blij om.

Intussen ben ik lid geworden van de Lymfklierkankervereniging. Gisteravond was een informatieavond van het LVN over nieuwe medicijnen, toevallig in het dichtsbijzijnde ziekenhuis met een lezing van de oncoloog die ook mij behandelt. Er is veel te doen op dat gebied. Het is goed om op de hoogte te blijven.

Textielfestival

Last Friday I visited the Textile Festival in Leiden. There were more than 40 places where textiles could be seen. In churches, galeries, musea, old textilefactory etc. All kind of textiles like quilts, embroidery, weaving etc was there. The largest one was in the St Pieters church. There were also the pieces with the theme "Sporen".In the church I had one piece, the blue and red one en in the exhibition of Mini quilts I had two, the fern and the roses.
I didn't have time enough to see everything, the most important places for me I visited Friday.
I would go back today, but my body doesn't want to do anything today, I'm a little bit ill, so I need time to rest.
Now I have enough time to see the websites I gathered and to read a lot.

Afgelopen vrijdag ben ik in Leiden naar het Textielfestival geweest. Op meer dan 40 plaatsen, in kerken, galeries, musea en oude fabrieken was textiel te zien. Quilts, borduurwerk, weven etc.
De grootste tentoonstelling was in de St. Pieterskerk, waar ook het wedstrijdwerk hing met het thema "Sporen". Daar had ik een werk hangen. Bij de tentoonstelling voor Miniquilts had ik twee werken hangen, de rozen en de varen.

Vrijdag heb ik de voor mij belangrijkste plaatsen bezocht. Vandaag zou ik terug gaan, maar mijn lichaam wil niet. Ik voel me niet lekker en heb rust nodig. Ik heb wel tijd nu om de websites te bekijken die ik genoteerd heb en om lekker te lezen.
